Hi All! Today I'm sharing my current skin care routine and getting a little TMI so sorry in advance!
I have been having some serious skin issues of late due to an illness I have called PCOS - polycystic ovarian syndrome - (basically a hormonal imbalance causing issues with ovulation, cysts on the ovaries, severely painful and hectic periods and menstral cramps!) this affects my hormone levels which in turn effects (among other things) my skin, it's appearance, texture, colour and sensitivity, lately to the point where I haven't been able to get facial waxing such as my eyebrows done, use certain much loved skin care products that usually work wonderfully on my skin and have even struggled to be able to wear any makeup at all on the worst days!
Now we are done with the TMI I thought I would share what products have been helping me through and helping to sooth my skin and get it back to normal!
I generally have oily skin and when I have had flare ups and issues due to my condition in the past my skin does this magical thing where it stays its usual oily self with the added bonus of severely painful dry patches, this is when I begin to reach for my stand by / go to natural products to help me manage these symptoms :
"Sukin - Revitalising Facial Scrub" : I find regularly exfoliating to help make my dry flakey patches less visable and painful. This scrub is effective yet gentle enough to use daily
"Antipodes - Grapeseed Butter Cleanser" : my skin feels so nourished, moisturised and soft after using this buttery, creamy smooth cleanser and because it's natural it doesn't cause any irritation.
"LUSH - Ultrabland Facial Cleanser" :
My usual skin care routine involves reaching for this beautiful and beloved product from lush a minimum of once a week, it's a staple in my skin care stash and I find its best used immediately when I have any symptoms flaring up. It has a waxy consistency that seems to form a protective layer over my skin for days when I'm having skin issues but I still feel the need to wear a full face of makeup.
'Models Prefer - Facial Cleansing Brush' :
(I will be posting a more in depth review on this product on the blog asap so stay tuned if interested!)
For now I have found this new facial cleansing brush to be so helpful to get a deep clean without being too rough on my skin while it's so sensitive! It works a dream with my regular Clinique cleanser (not mentioned in this post as this product is a little too harsh during a skin flare up) and I LOVE to use it with the antipodes butter cleanser, leaves my sling looking and feeling amazing!
"A'Kin - Toner" : this toner has been a godsend of late, my skin is still a little bit sensitive at its worst to use even a natural more gentle toner daily so I have been including this in my routine every second day. This helps to clarify my skin and feels nourishing at the same time, thank you chamomile!
"Antipodes - Apostle Skin Brightening Serum " : I'm a newbie to the serum world and this is only the second one I have tried and it's already a firm fave! The smell is heavenly! I apply this before my moisturiser and love the way it makes my skin look and feel even during my current flare up!
'Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel" : I can no let go of this product, while dealing with the occasional flare ups I still need to try and control my usually oily skin so I stick to what I know works with this beautiful product, this way I'm still able to have a smooth base for my makeup of the day and control oil.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post! I would love to know what are your go to natural / organic / vegan products?
LLx
