A few weeks ago I had the privilege of attending the first Pro Makeup and Beauty Show held at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane.
I had been anticipating this event since it was announced last year and was very excited to see what the show would offer. Finally! A comprehensive makeup and beauty trade event was being held within driving distance!
I arrived in Brisbane the day before the event as I wanted to capitalise on my visit to the city. I don't get there as often as I would like, so with my best friend by my side we quickly got down to some serious shopping. I also visited the amazing newly relocated MAC store on James Street in Fortitude Valley and picked up some awesome goodies! I did have to limit myself on my purchases however as I did not want to run out of funds to spend on the big event!
I originally bought tickets for my best friend and I to attend on both days of Pro M&B, but due to a pressing work commitment on the second day, I had to make the most of just one day.
Thankfully, the inaugural Pro Makeup and Beauty Show did not disappoint!
Arriving at the lovely Royal International Convention Centre, I joined the beautiful crowd of other makeup connoisseurs and excitedly hustled into the venue. Upon presentation the staff taking tickets and directing attendees were lovely and helpful and when we finally made it into the hall, I was elated to see that the entire layout was both professionally designed and decorated and made for a very inviting shopping experience!
I was pleasantly surprised to see OPI as a feature exhibitor as I entered the show room!
In my months of preparation for Pro M&B I had not seen anything reflecting the idea that they would be exhibiting.

OPI's stand stood out to me immediately as it took pride of place on the show room floor. Their stand boasted the full variety of OPI shades, all at the amazingly low price of $10 each! Taking a moment to maintain my composure (and avoid buying one of EVERYTHING! lol), I carefully selected three of the polishes from the DS collection that I have been wanting to get my hands on for a loooong time!

I was thrilled to see this much coveted brand on the exhibitors list for this event! I have been wanting to create an eye shadow palette with the Inglot Freedom system for some time now and sadly missed my chance at IMATS last year, due simply to how over-run the stand was on both days.
Though there was quite a crowd at Pro M&B, I was so happy to have the chance to speak to the gorgeous Annita (pictured above, who can be found ordinarily at the Inglot store at Westfield Chermside) and have such enthusiastic and knowledgeable help making my first ever Inglot palette. As an amazing bonus, Inglot was also offering 20% off their products for the show so the palette was a steal!
Crown Brush was a major sponsor of the Pro Makeup and Beauty Show and had an amazing stall with a great variety of their brushes and professional makeup cases on sale. Crown have been manufacturing make-up brushes for over 30 years and this experience has enabled them to build a comprehensive catalogue of tools for both personal and industry use, while making them a go-to brush brand.
While I didn't end up buying any Crown products at Pro M&B, I did get to enjoy a lengthy peruse of their lovely products. The main reason I did not buy anything is because I have recently been building quite a kit of brushes to experiment with and I wanted to wait to use what I have before buying more. I do, however, plan to revisit Crown next year with the intention to give these fantastically renowned brushes a go!
It was amazing as always to see the beautiful Kryolan products in person (& swatch!) and I love that as a makeup lover, trade shows like this enable even me to have an opportunity to learn about and try out high quality professional brands such as this one.
I have never bought any Kryolan products before as I, like many, tend to view their items as aimed at more professional use, however this almost 70 year old brand does work to promote their products as usable by non professionals as well, and with such gorgeous products I would definitely recommend taking a look at them if you are one of the more adventurous at-home makeup lovers.
During my months of keeping an eye on the website for Pro M&B I had been very interested by the chance to approach the Smitten Cosmetics stand to enquire about their new 5 in 1 Whipped Foundation which was promoted as a great quality and easy to use product for those of us with oily skin!
I was really impressed by my experience at this stall with Mel who knowledgably explained to me the benefits of this make-up and helped me to swatch and appropriately match my shade (whipped cappuccino - such a cute name!) and I do plan on purchasing from Smitten online in the near future as a result!
FINAL TOUCH BROWS
While happily perusing the stalls near the back of the hall, I was lucky enough to connect with a lovely woman named Antoinette who enthusiastically represented the brand: Final Touch Brows.

This stall offered something a little different in the form of some exciting and innovative products for those who have any troubles with sparse brows or inadequate brow hair growth. Although you may not believe it, Antoinette is actually herself wearing some of the companies 100% human hair brow wigs.
Final Touch Brows offer a number of great products which will certainly give confidence back to anyone who has lost their eyebrows due to medical treatment or illness, both men and women.
A than these fantastic brow wigs, this brand also offers individual piece brow extensions, brow powder, pencils and gels, with each product offering similarly fantastic results.

In addition to the fantastic brands mentioned above, the Pro M&B event also showcased over 30 other fantastic local and international brands including the much anticipated Erin Bigg Cosmetics, organic skincare range Cellande Skincare, the classic Girlee Cosmetics and the gorgeous ModelRock Lashes. All of the exhibitors had well presented stands and overall there was a brilliant variety of products on display throughout.

During my planning stages for Pro M&B I kept a close eye on the workshops section of their website to see what presentations might be available. There were a number of workshops advertised to those who paid an additional amount and although some of them looked quite promising, I decided not to attend any of the workshops this year due to my limited time at the event.
Thankfully, as well as the paid workshops, Pro M&B also ran ongoing live demonstrations on stage at the rear of the hall, which featured a great line-up of VIP guest artists including James Vincent, Dale Dorning and Autumn Scruggs.
Below is a picture of the first presentation I was lucky enough to see, with Michael, head trainer from the Huxley School Of Makeup, Gold Coast, creating a lovely dewy skinned runway look on behalf of Kryolan cosmetics.
These feature presentations were a great addition to the Pro M&B event, giving attendees the chance to pick up a variety of awesome tips from some leading industry professionals. I am thrilled I was able to sit through a few of them and see some great products being expertly applied.
All in all I can't stress enough how impressed I was by the very first Pro Makeup and Beauty Show.
Everyone I met at the show was friendly and knowledgeable and the staff were just as excited by this new event as I was! The atmosphere was both professional yet comfortable and even family friendly, and with such a great variety of products on display it made for a wonderful shopping and learning event!
I'm already looking forward to the next Pro Makeup & Beauty Show! Im excited to see the show grow and hopefully come to include some even bigger names (I'm looking at you M.A.C. lol) in the future. I feel the Pro M&B Show will surely become a must attend event for all those interested in makeup and beauty, wether trade professional or makeup enthusiast from the greater Brisbane area all the way down to the Gold Coast!
Thankyou so much for reading all about the Brisbane Pro Makeup And Beauty Show. It was such a fantastic experience and I hope that this article helped you to feel just a fraction of the enjoyment I experienced on the day.
(Don't forget to check back soon and see what I bought in Brisbane in my upcoming haul post!)
Did you also attend the Pro Makeup And Beauty Show? If so, what were your favourite exhibitors or presentations?
I'd love to connect with anyone who might be thinking of going to next years show! I am already in planning mode for 2015 and would enjoy the chance to talk to others and perhaps plan a future meet up around the event!
Please feel welcome to leave any feedback, comments or questions in the comments section or contact me via social media!
Thanks Beauties!
