Mini Elf Haul / A New Brand Experience !!! // Affordable Beauty

Since I began getting more involved in the beauty world a few years ago, I've heard a number of good things about the cosmetic brand e.l.f (Eyes, Lips, Face). A brand known for low cost, high quality makeup is bound to attract a lot of attention so, like many people, I was excited to discover that Kmart would soon be retailing e.l.f products in all of it's stores across Australia. This move by the Kmart chain has helped to make a once hard to obtain brand of products much more accessible to us Aussie make-up enthusiasts!

I first noticed the stand being set up at the beginning of February in my local Kmart store and after keeping an eye on the stand, eagerly awaiting the chance to get my hands on some e.l.f products, on February 14th as I ran some Valentines Day errands, I was delighted see the stand fully stocked and ready for hauling!

e.l.f Haul - from Kmart Australia

When I try out any new brand I like to do a bit of research, especially when it comes to makeup products. I like to find out what item the brand is best known for, what current customers of the brand have experienced and of course swoon over some swatches! I think its also important to start by trying out a variety of the basics when experiencing a new brand, so I approached the e.l.f display calmly and analysed what was on offer so as to not completely blow my budget for the week and buy everything in sight!

After having a good look at the range of brushes and tools available at such low prices I decided they were definitely worth a go. I then decided to try out a mascara as not only is this my favorite part of the makeup process, mascara is an essential item to complete any look. Finally I chose an e.l.f blush, with blush being another favorite product of mine as it adds a bit of girly colour to even the plainest FOTD.

My local Kmart store had quite a basic selection of e.l.f products compared to what I found available online in my pre haul search, however I am quite happy with the few items I picked up, especially when I got to the register and found my total to be only $20.00! That being said it would have been easy for me to buy a lot more of the items available and I had to reassure myself as I left the store that I could come back again any time I wanted.

What I bought:

e.l.f Blush - Twinkle Pink - $8

I fell for this blush instantly! It is a wearable beautiful pink with a gorgeous gold sheen and I have been wearing this regularly.

e.l.f Tools - Bronzing Brush - $3

My first ever ELF brush and not bad considering it was only $3! It did shed a few hairs even during the first use, I did wash the brush prior to using as in my experience this is whats best to do, it didn't make any difference to the amount of hairs shedding from the brush, I was a little dissapointed but I will definitely find another brush from the range to try and see if my experience was a once off.

e.l.f All Over Colour Stick - Golden Peach - $3

The all over colour stick provides a beautiful and bright pop of colour. I have enjoyed using this as a blush, highlight, brow highlight and even a lip colour. The product is very versatile and definitely a new fave in my make up collection!

e.l.f Tools - Mechanical Eyelash Curler -$3

The quality & result is amazing, I payed $3 and I am so impressed! I have thrown away my long term serving revlon eyelash curler and this little gem now sits proudly in my daily make up routine!

e.l.f Eyes - Lengthening & Defining Mascara - $3

I have been so impressed with this new mascara, I have been reaching for it daily. I have decided to review this new fave in an upcoming blog post, so stay tuned! :)

  • I have been really enjoying all my new products from e.l.f and I am really looking forward to trying some further items from the brand I saw on iHerb.com including the brow duo, different blush shades and of course some of the beautiful nail polishes!
